Today we will focus on Cyberbullying.  Cyberbullying  is being mean to someone by using a computer or phone.  Being mean to someone can make them feel sad.   Remember, if you wouldn't say something to another person's face, it's definitely not OK to say it online. If you do feel like someone is being mean to you or a friend here are some things that you can do:

  • Step away from the computer/phone

  • Tell a trusted adult.

  • Pause and think: It is easier to be mean online-try to talk to the person face to face.

Today we will focus on how often you use technology.  How do you spend your time? Do you spend all of your time outside playing?  Do you spend all of your time with family?  It’s important to find a balance of how much time you spend in the digital world and how much time you spend in the real world. 

When you are using technology-this is considered screen time.  Screen time is when you  are working, playing, learning or watching on a screen.  Get it? Screen time.  This could be watching TV, using a computer, cell phone or a game. 

It is important to find a balance between screen time and time with other life activities (family, friends, school, hobbies…). Spending too much time online is not healthy for you.

You should not share private information with strangers online.  Think about this--would you walk up to a total stranger at a store and tell them your name and address?  No, probably not.   So a good rule of thumb is not to share any information online with someone that your parents do not know.  People can act like your friend online, tell an adult if someone asks you for private information online.
